The 2013 Fixin 1er Cru les Arvelets underwent malolactic fermentation in foudre before being transferred down to the barrel cellar. It comes from a single hectare of vines, although Amelie told me that 0.2h ectares were pulled up in 2014. It has a ripe and vivacious bouquet with mulberry, black plum and strawberry scents that race from the glass. The palate has quite a saline entry that lends this tension and counterbalanced the thickset red and black fruit. There is clearly good weight and length here, although it needs just a touch more complexity on the finish, though I am sure that will be realized in future vintages.
