Last Tasted 5/92
Still not at its plateau of maturity, this is the most powerful and concentrated Barbaresco Giacosa made between 1971 and 1989. The deep garnet color is followed by a celestial bouquet of spicy fruit, cedar, tobacco, leather, and copious quantities of black-cherries. Unctuous and rich, with significant body and power, this young, brooding giant of a wine can be drunk now, but it promises to reach extraordinary heights of pleasure and complexity if held for another 3-4 years. It should ultimately rival Giacosa's virtually perfect 1971 Santo Stefano.
