My first exposure to these wines has resulted in enthusiastic tasting notes. The top of the line cuvees from Coriole are a proprietary red called Mary Kathleen and a blockbuster Shiraz called Lloyd. Potentially even more impressive than the Mary Kathleen, the 1994 Lloyd is a huge, monolithic, blockbuster. This wine exhibits a sweet, black fruit (blackberries and prunes), hickory smoke-scented nose, extraordinary ripeness, and mouthcoating levels of glycerin and extract. Massive, deep, rich, and still unformed, this wine should age effortlessly for 12-20 years. If more complexity develops, it will merit an even higher rating. Don't touch a bottle for 3-4 years.Importers: Franklin Selections, Annapolis Junction, MD; tel. (410) 880-4790, and Appalachian Imports, LLC, Annapolis Junction, MD.
