This perennial overachiever has turned out an attractive 1994, with a dark purple color, a sweet, plummy, herb, mineral, and spice-scented nose, powerful, medium to full-bodied, concentrated flavors with adequate acidity and moderate tannin. The wine has a certain precociousness, as well as ripe fruit and good balance. It should drink well for 12-15 years.
All of the wines in this segment were tasted between March 19 and March 28 in Bordeaux. Most of the important wines from both the 1994 and 1995 vintages were tasted three separate times during my ten-day stay in Bordeaux.
