The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the more layered, complex wines of the vintage. Sweet pipe tobacco, spices, leather and savory herbs mesh together in the glass. A wine of unusual detail for the year, the 2008 stands apart for its delineation and textural finesse. Naturally, the 2008 can’t match the 2006 or 2007, but it is a great choice for drinking while those wines age. Layers of flavor wrap around the palate on the striking finish.
