The 2006 Reserva is 40% each Alicante Bouschet and Syrah, with the rest Touriga Nacional. This was not a good vintage in the region and there are some signs of problems here. Short, with a modest mid-palate, the oak is prominent and so is a touch of a meaty character. It is reasonably pleasant – in fact, for drinking right now I liked it at the moment more than the 2005, but it seems short on the palate. Drink now-2015. The Reserva vertical was poured at the winery in Alentejo. Admittedly, this was a somewhat disappointing vertical as the promise shown by the earlier vintages was not fulfilled. For the older wines, it raised more questions than answers. The good news is that the new vintages seem to have regrouped and they showed both more elegance and better balance.Importers: Vinum Importing, Redmond, WA; tel.
