The first-rate Batard-Montrachet possesses a deep, rich, almond and honeyed nose and a wide, expansive, full-bodied and super-ripe personality. This full-bodied wine has marzipan, honeysuckle, sweet peach and pear flavors as well as magnificent depth. It is also well-delineated, focused, and beautifully structured. Long and complex, I would suggest drinking it between 2003 and 2008. It is another example of a Batard that is elevated to new heights by 1996's tell-tale acidity.
