The American consortium that owns La Vieille-Cure recognized the need to augment Merlot in the soils of Fronsac. The results are encouraging as La Vieille-Cure continues to turn out some of the most balanced and charming wines of the appellation. The 1992 exhibits an attractive ruby color, a sweet, moderately intense nose of spice, black-cherries, and herbs, fine ripeness and roundness, low acidity, and a soft, generous finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.
