Here's a wine with no loose ends. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a compact and coherent expression that is elegant and powerful at the same time. The bouquet is finely stitched together and extremely smooth in texture. Wild berry, plum, cassis, tobacco and grilled herb emerge from the glass. The wine is delicately redolent of balsam notes that include dried rosemary, ginger and cola. The styling here is traditional and the Sangiovese grape is given plenty of room to shine. I look forward to tasting this estate after the 2012 vintage when the new management and winemaking team is in place.
