The 2010 El Anejon de Cuesta Las Liebres is produced with grapes grown at high altitude on chalky soils 96% Tempranillo, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot and aged one year in barrel. Of the whole lineup, it-s a clean, delineated, harmonious red, with a more lively palate, and is more soil-driven, with a chalky, supple, almost salty sensation. It has great length and acidity and should develop slowly and for a long time. Drink 2014-2025.
The unpronounceable Pago de Carraovejas produces a full range of modern, well-crafted Riberas without excesses that have great commercial success in Spain, so they can ask prices that for the rest of the world are definitively on the high side. They produce 750,000 bottles per year, usually blending Tempranillo with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
