The 2007 Barolo Rocche di Castelletto is a very pretty wine laced with sweet red fruit, flowers, crushed rose petals and spices. It shows lovely mid-palate sweetness and depth and fine overall balance. This is a very accessible wine from Monforte, largely because it doesn’t have the tannic structure typical of the Barolos of the village. Aromatic, with a floral component to the raspberry and cherry notes. Though elegant, this has intensity and builds to the long finish. Tobacco, licorice and mineral accents add depth and dimension.
