The 2014 Puligy Montrachet Sous les Puits comes from vines towards Blagny and saw 25% new oak. It has a clean and precise bouquet that opens in the glass to reveal subtle mint and lemongrass scents, which lend this Puligny an exotic touch. The palate is quite rounded in the mouth with a keen line of acidity, walnut and hazelnut lending it a sort of Meursault-like personality, dovetailing into a viscous, quite powerful finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a fleshy Puligny, one that you might presume came from warmer contours further down the slope. Enjoy this over the next 8-10 years.
