The 2015 Redoma Reserva Branco is Niepoort's familiar field blend, often his best white in an obviously oaked style. When you first taste and smell this, it is all about the oak, but you'll eventually notice how that affects texture far more than flavor. As it sits in the glass and warms, this very young Redoma Reserva shows off its velvety texture and caressing mouth feel. It is surprisingly sexy as it warms, but there is also steel underneath. That gradually counters the wood. Showing fine tension on the finish and an increasingly fresh demeanor as it sits, this looks like a terrific Redoma Reserva. It should age very well. They usually do and this vintage has the freshness to help it along. If it develops some complexity, as anticipated, it may be entitled to an uptick, but let's see it finish pulling in that wood.
