The 1993 Shiraz Magill Estate reveals an evolved plum color, followed by a smoky, earthy, curranty nose with plenty of pepper in the background, and sweet, gamey flavors on the attack. High acidity and tannin pinch the wine's finish. Overall, this is a pleasant, but narrowly-constructed, uninspiring effort that is considerably over-priced. This winery continues to turn out an insipid selection of white wines, but the reds are all noteworthy, and some are reasonably good values.
