Even better, and the star of the lineup (only 2,700 bottles made), the 2012 Gigondas Les Secrets de Montmirail comes from the top three terraces of the estate, at the upper reaches of the appellation. Harvested very late and made from 50% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 25% Mourvèdre, aged 80% in concrete and 20% in older barrels, it sports a stunning bouquet of crème de cassis, jammy blackberry, new leather and licorice. This is followed by a full-bodied, ultra-pure, elegant profile on the palate that carries fabulous concentration, integrated acidity and no shortage of tannin. Give this puppy another 2-3 years in the cellar and enjoy bottles through 2027.
