Beringer produces three Chardonnay cuvees. The 1,500 cases of 1994 Chardonnay Private Reserve will not last long on retailers' shelves as they are destined to disappear into the mouths of serious Chardonnay freaks. Beringer has fine-tuned this wine, which ten years ago was among the most oaky California Chardonnays, without compromising its intensity and unctuous texture. The 1994 possesses good underlying acidity and structure, but its finest attributes are the ripeness and thick, honeyed, viscous, mouthfilling, spring flower blossom, honeyed apple, and peach/apricot-like flavors presented in a full-bodied style. It should drink well for 2-3 years.
This exceptionally well-run winery continues its impressive display of high quality wines in all price ranges and varietal categories.
