The 2005 Crianza was sourced from 35+-year-old Tempranillo vines and aged for 12 months in French and American oak. It has an expressive perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, spice box, and assorted black fruits. Medium to full-bodied, layered, and spicy, this nicely balanced, lengthy wine will evolve for 2-3 years and drink well through 2015.
The Callejo family owns 60 hectares of low yielding Tempranillo vines (Tinto Fino as it is known in Ribera del Duero) ranging in age from 25-70 years. All of the following wines are 100% Tempranillo from estate vineyards and were fermented with native yeasts.
