Macarico’s flagship 2008 Aglianico del Vulture Macarico emerges from the glass with serious depth and power. An exotic wine, the 2008 is laced with blackberries, cherries, plums, licorice and tar. This is an especially powerful Aglianico that puts a little more emphasis on fruit rather than varietal character, but it is very beautiful all the same. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. Macarico makes powerful, personality-laden wines from their vineyards in Barile. Aglianico from the Vulture is quite distinct. Macarico is a great place to start learning about the wines.
