A good effort is the ripe, rich, textured as well as concentrated 1999 Soave Classico La Rocca. Produced from 100% late-harvested Garganega that was fermented in 500 liter oak foudres, it exhibits copious quantities of sweet, honeyed citrus fruit, medium body, outstanding purity, and no evidence of oak in its aromas or flavors. A serious, multidimensional Soave, it should be consumed over the next 1-2 years.
