The 2018 Barbera d'Alba (with only 5,000 bottles produced) opens to a super inky color and opaque concentration, offering a hint at the dark treats that are to come. This young red unloads Nutella and espresso with lots of fresh cherry fruit. Then come the cola notes along with earthy tones and dark, savory spice. There is good richness and succulence here too. All those luscious aromas come solely from the grape, as this wine only sees a brief six months in stainless steel.
