Diel’s 2007 Dorsheimer Pittermannchen Riesling Spatlese smells of Normany cider, poached peaches, sweetly perfumed flowers, and malt. Subtle creaminess of texture and striking lift and elegance lead characterize a correspondingly rich palate impression and long finish for this pure, polished Riesling capable of at least 20 years’ positive evolution.
With the 2007 vintage – one Armin Diel compares with his superbly successful 2004s – daughter Caroline Diel has joined Christoph Friedrich in guiding vineyard and cellar operations here. (The 2008 vintage sees her in the estate’s leading role.)
