Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru from Domaine du Clos Frantin has an endearing bouquet with red cherries, raspberry preserve and mineral - so elegant and refined with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded, cashmere entry, the acidity a little lower than I was expecting, but certainly concentrated with a luscious, sensual finish that just glides across the mouth. This was not the only 2012 from Clos Frantin that showed so well. Let's hope it ages with commensurate panache.
