The terrific 2003 The Moonlight Run is a blend of 62% Grenache (from 120-year-old vines), 15% Shiraz (from 45-year-old vines), 15% Cinsault and 8% Mourvedre (both from 80-year-old vines) aged in old French hogsheads for 19 months. Exhibiting an Australian Chateauneuf du Pape-like character, its deep plum ruby hue is accompanied by glorious scents of raspberry jam, blueberries, Provencal herbs, pepper, and spice box. With exceptional ripeness, richness, and depth as well as a savory, expansive, smooth mouthfeel, this is a knock-out Australian red to drink over the next 5-6 years.
