The 2010 Charmes-Chambertin is mysterious, engaging and beautiful. Freshly cut roses, sweet red berries, spices and licorice are some of the nuances that are woven together in this impeccable, silky wine. There is no beginning and no end, just a pure expression of one of Burgundy’s greatest sites. This is a totally understated, gracious Charmes endowed with tons of harmony and pure class. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035.
Romain Taupenot lost between 25-40% of his 2010 production to the poor weather, although some of his lower lying parcels were down as much as 80%. Fortunately the Grand Crus were down only 15% on average. The harvest began on September 23. Taupenot reported that the fruit required some sorting in the winery.
