The best of the series is the oddly-spelled 2001 Sancta Catharina (Latin? Greek? Italian?), an unusual blend of Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet, and Petit Verdot, blackish in tonality, potent in its expression of black berry fruit, tar, herbs, and graphite, lengthy and broad in flavor, packed in texture, solid in structure, intense but sensual on its very sustained finish. Drink: 2005-2020.
