The 2001 Shiraz Eagle’s Blood appears to be the most promising of the first three vintages. Its opaque blue/purple color is accompanied by aromas of blueberries, blackberries, charcoal, and vanilla offered in a layered, sweet, exuberant full-throttle, full-bodied, opulent, delineated style. This impressive effort should be at its finest in 2-3 years, and last for 12-15. Readers should be on the look-out for this noteworthy new edition from Heathcote.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283
