The 1966 Chateau du Tertre, served at the property by estate manager Alexandre Van Beek, is the oldest vintage that I have tasted from the Margaux estate. Perhaps I was hoping that it would match the wonderful 1966 Giscours, however, the fact is that this falls a long way short. It had an animally, feral nose with hickory and singed leather, the fruit departed many moons ago. The palate is medium-bodied and quite acetic, rather hollow with a dry finish. In other words...stick to the Giscours! Tasted June 2015.
