The 2007 Nitsche Block Shiraz delivers an aromatic array of Asian spices, blackberry, blueberry, bitter-sweet chocolate, and earth notes. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and rich with flavors of black fruits and licorice, buttressed by ripe tannins. Deep, bright ruby. Highly aromatic bouquet of boysenberry, cola, vanilla and star anise. Smooth and fleshy, with deep dark fruit compote flavors and velvety tannins that fade into the fruit. This rich but energetic wine finishes with lingering notes of Asian spices and cola. Deep enough to age, but I'd drink it on the early side for its exotic fruit.
