The 2005 Vendimia Seleccionada spent 33 months in barrel. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it proffers a compelling bouquet of pain grille, espresso, incense, truffle, black cherry, and blackberry. On the palate it has serious volume, outstanding concentration, complex black fruit flavors, and a lengthy, pure finish. Give it another 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it from 2013 to 2025.
Located just outside the border of Ribera del Duero, Bodegas Mauro must settle for the more generic DO of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Leon.
