The dark ruby-colored 1997 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia (3,000 cases) is aged two years in large wood as well as small barriques. With its chewy, powerful, meaty aromas, this wine begs to be drunk with steak. Notes of licorice, smoke, spice box, cedar, and black cherry jam can be found in this ripe, concentrated, muscular wine. Lay this one away for 2-3 years, and consume it over the following 17-18 years.Importer: Dominic Nocerino, Vinifera Imports, Ronkonkoma, NY; tel. (516) 467-5907
