The 2019 Clos de Sarpe has turned out nicely in bottle, wafting from the glass with a generous bouquet of blackberries, Morello cherries and plums mingled with hints of pencil shavings, loamy soil and nicely integrated new oak. Full-bodied, broad and velvety, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and an ample endowment of fine, chalky tannin, it's a powerful but vibrant Saint-émilion that testifies to the interest of the site.
