The Azelia 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco dell'Oriolo offers a fresh and fruit-forward disposition, with some of those bright aromas of wild cherry, rose and black currant that you associate with a slightly cooler vintage. Fruit is sourced from a single-vineyard site at the top of a hill at 600 meters above sea level in the Montelupo Albese area, known for excellent results with this variety. The vines are 45 years old, which is getting up there for Dolcetto. This wine is direct and sharp. What it offers in terms of aromatic intensity is contrasted by a slender and shorter mouthfeel. With an ample release of 13,600 bottles, this is a cheerful and affordable Dolcetto to drink up with a simple plate of spaghetti and sauce.
