Auguste Clape and his son, Pierre-Marie, continue to be the reference points for Cornas. Compared to the 1995, the 1994 Cornas is also an outstanding effort, but far more open-knit, opulent, and easier to drink at such a young age. The opaque black/ruby color is accompanied by sweet aromas of truffles, black fruits, smoke, and earth. A voluptuous texture, great fruit, admirable ripeness, and superb purity make for a delicious, full-bodied, concentrated style of Cornas. It should drink well for 12-15 years.Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 524-1524, and a Christopher Cannan Selection, Europvin USA, Watertown, MA; tel. (617) 924-7620
