This is an attractive set of wines from Longboard Vineyards, led by their brilliant 2007 Syrah Dakine Vineyard. Its black raspberry flavors, with hints of blueberry, forest floor, and loamy, earthy notes, are decidedly cool-climate characteristics of Syrah. The sweet tannins, full-bodied richness, and impressive texture and purity all characterize a well-made, top-class Syrah that should drink nicely for 7-8 years. Tel. Firmed up with a little Zinfandel, Malbec, Petite Sirah, Carignane and Grenache, this full-bodied red wine is delicious and complex.
