Itsas Mendi’s 2009 Hondarrabi Zuri (the basic Txakoli grape) was fermented and raised in stainless steel. Medium straw-colored, it proffers a fragrant perfume of mineral, sea salt, lemon-lime, and herbal notes. On the palate it is unusually rich for Txakoli (perhaps a product of the outstanding vintage) with a crisp, nervy palate, good balance, and a lengthy, lively finish. Drink it over the next 1-2 years, preferably from a patio overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
