The ruby/garnet 1998 Brunello di Montalcino presents a smoky vanilla nose with ripe plum fruit and a hint of raisins, signs of a hot vintage. Medium-bodied with good definition and focus, the wine is long, pure, and well made. Its medium weight and length indicate that this was a good but not superior vintage for this house.
