The compelling 2004 Willow Creek Cuvee is a 400-case blend of 60% Grenache, and equal parts Syrah and Mourvedre fashioned from both the Denner and James Berry Vineyards, two sites with limestone-dominated soils, a rarity in California. I tasted both screw cap and cork-finished bottles, and noted little difference between the two bottlings. This is a beautiful sweet cherry, spicy, exotic, flamboyantly aromatic offering with a deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as elegant yet substantial, fresh, vibrant, long, intense flavors.
