This wine had been bottled a few hours before my visit to the estate, and appeared to suffer both aromatically and gustatorially. In short, it may be better than these tasting notes suggest. Spicy buttered brioche and white flowers are found in the 1998 Pinot Gris Muenchberg's nose. Medium-bodied, complex, and concentrated, this intense wine coats the palate with layers of anise, spices, and butterscotch. Projected maturity: 2002-2009.
