Among the red wines, the outstanding bargain is the Cotes du Rhone. The just-released 1991 contains a hefty quantity of Syrah to beef it up as this was a weak vintage in the southern Rhone. Firm, tannic, austere, and compact, the tannin finishes with harshness, suggesting the wine may dry out before it blossoms. While it is a solid, chunky wine, it is not comparable to the 1990 Cotes du Rhone.Importer: Classic Wines, Boston, MA; Tel. (617) 731-6644
