An outstanding wine, the Meursault Les Clous exhibits earthy, hazelnut, and anise aromas. On the palate, the wine is fat, buttery and spicy. Powerful, with zippy acid and very good length, this beautifully structured, medium-to-full-bodied offering should be drunk between 2000-2010. Javillier also makes a Meursault Charmes but I did not have the opportunity to taste it.
This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy between January 7 and January 29. Ratings with a range of scores in parentheses indicate the wine was tasted from cask, not bottle.
