The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino, a solid, dark garnet, with good fruit and spiciness on the nose, is medium-bodied but with much energy and continuity on the palate. On the finish, the plum and red currant fruit is very fresh. Drink: 2004-2010. This wine is superior to the 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, not reviewed, rather hard and tough, with some reduction on the nose.
Poggio Antico is in the southwestern part of the zone, but rather high, and the style is rather elegant for this part of Montalcino
