Leading off the reds, and dense and concentrated in the vintage, the 2011 Cairanne Les Travers’ inky purple color is followed by ample plum, melted licorice, smoke and crushed stone like nuances. Medium-bodied, rich and nicely balanced, it falls off slightly on the finish, but is rock solid and has a great texture. Drink it over the coming 3-5 years.
In addition to a rock star lineup of Gigondas (which are reviewed in Issue 210), this estate fashions three excellent Cairannes.
