The 2021 Block 6 Chardonnay leads with damp hay/straw/hessian, lemongrass and citrus pith. In the mouth, it is sour and lean; it has been worked and made, and those count among its attributes, but the fruit remains thin and unconvincing. Yet, golden in the glass. This is a challenging wine for me. Some may like the austerity—but even that is not convincing for my tastes. 12% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
