This wine from Kenwood is a monster Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibiting youthful colors, and huge quantities of fruit, extract, glycerin, and tannin. The 1986 Cabernet Sauvignon Jack London Vineyard may be too tannic for its own good. Although it possesses a youthful black/ruby/purple color, full body, and gobs of sweet, smoky, herb and licorice-tinged, blackcurrant fruit, its finish is ferociously tannic. This wine is entirely too young and hard to drink, but it is powerful, rich, and impressive. Will it ever become completely harmonious? The tasting notes for this section are from two single blind tastings, one conducted in May, 1996, in California, and the other in June, 1996, in Baltimore.
