This is a Taurasi I always admire and love to drink, but the 2012 Taurasi Fatica Contadina is a bit too ripe and jammy for my tastes. This hot vintage delivers heavy aromas of blackberry confit with dried prune and cherry marmalade. Dusty tones of volcanic ash and crushed granite appear on the close. This is an evolved, dark and thickly concentrated red wine to enjoy in the near or medium term. Production can range from 25,000 to 50,000 bottles on any given year.

Firm and focused, a tightly meshed red offering layers of dried cherry, a savory undertow of tarry mineral and leather, and accents of dried herb and mandarin orange peel.
