An obvious value is the 1999 Allende, an unfiltered 100% Tempranillo aged in 84% French and 16% American oak for thirteen months. The USA received 3,000 cases of this dense ruby/purple-colored effort. It exhibits deep, concentrated berry and black cherry fruit intermixed with vanilla, new saddle leather, and spice box. A sweet attack is followed by a lovely-textured wine with ripe tannin as well as a moderately long, medium-bodied finish. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
