The sensational 2007 Avenger, which is sourced from outstanding sites such as the Booker and Denner Vineyards, is terrific. A blend of 75% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre, and the rest Grenache, the wine has wonderful bacon fat and lard notes intermixed with blueberry, raspberry, and flowers. Deep and full-bodied, with silky tannins, a rich, multi-layered texture, and wonderful opulence, this is a wine to drink over the next 5-7 years.
