The 2014 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico (a blend of 45% Corvina Veronese, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta with 120 days of appassimento) opens to a dark and robust appearance with dried fruit aromas, prune, blackberry preserves, spice, tar and sweet tobacco. The wine is full-bodied for sure, but this vintage is a little less intense in terms of construction and persistence. The mouthfeel is a little more streamlined, just by a hair, compared to a warmer and drier vintage. An ample 100,000 bottles were made.
