The 2011 Tinto is principally a -big three- blend of Touriga Nacional (25%), Touriga Franca (25%) and Tinta Roriz (15%), plus 20% old vines field blend (70+ years). Dollops of Tinta Amarela, Sousao, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Cao fill out the rest. It was fermented in tank, with 25% of the blend aged in French oak for 14 months. Soft and rather easy, this has a friendly and slightly flat feel while projecting some concentration. It shows a bit more perkiness with air, the wine waking up, some grip on the finish showing up, and some crispness around the edges appearing. I didn-t like it much on opening, but it really grew on me. Give it six months or so to settle down. Drink now-2021.
