The 2014 Tinto is an equal blend of the big three (Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz), with a 5% dollop of Sous?o and 20% old vines (70+ years). About 30% of the juice was aged for 16 months in used French barriques, the rest in stainless steel. The vintage, of course, was a very difficult one in this region. At the "regular Colheita" level, this was a decent effort under the circumstances. Like a lot of 2014s, this actually has reasonable structure. Like a lot of them, the fruit seems dull and the wine seems a bit flat rather than lifted. Maybe this will come around a bit, but it does seem on track to be my least favorite of Vallado's regular Tintos. It should be drunk young, after a few months to settle down.
